The Biggest Party in History Starts Here: New Year’s Eve in Fortaleza 2026

If you think you know how to celebrate New Year’s Eve, wait until you see what Fortaleza is preparing for the arrival of 2026.
In the 11 years since we opened our Refúgios, we have seen many incredible New Year’s Eves at the Aterro da Praia de Iracema. However, quite honestly? What is coming up is historic. The city will turn a proud 300 years old in April 2026, and the turnover party, christened “Ligada nos 300” (Connected to the 300), is the kick-off for these massive celebrations.
We are talking about two days of partying, the biggest stars of Brazilian music, and a monumental structure just a few steps away from our houses— Refúgio Hostel and Refúgio Pousada Fortaleza. Get the champagne on ice and recharge your energy, because it is going to be intense!
30 December: The Luxury “Warm-Up”
In the past, the 30th was just a rehearsal. Now, it is a festival in itself. For those arriving early in Fortaleza, the party starts the night before the big turn.
Check out who will shake the sands at Aterro da Praia de Iracema, the main stage on the first night:
Sertanejo at Heart: The night promises deep emotions with Luan Santana and the classics of Bruno & Marrone. Warm up your voices, because we will have those anthems that everyone sings along to.
The Power of Forró: Commander Xand Avião lands to make sure no one stands still. Besides him, Seu Desejo brings that romantic forró perfect for dancing cheek-to-cheek.
The Beat of the Moment: The energy of piseiro and arrocha is guaranteed with Nattanzinho Lima. It is the sound dominating the Brazilian street parties right now!
Pride of the Land: To represent the tradition and the soul of Ceará, the master Waldonys takes the stage with his unmistakable accordion.
Why is this important? Many tourists arrive only on the 31st and miss this incredible night. Our tip is: arrive earlier! It is only a 15 – 20 minute walk from the Refúgios to the stage. 👣
31 December: The Grand “Virada” (The Turnover)
On the night of the 31st, all roads lead to Aterro da Praia de Iracema. This is where the magic happens. And it is almost right next to the Refúgios! The city hall concentrates all security and transport infrastructure at this point, expecting over 1 million people.
The line-up for the big night (updated 18.12.2025) is impeccable, democratic, and celebrates the diversity of our music:
The King of the House: Wesley Safadão will likely command the most euphoric moment of the night, right after midnight. He is the face of Fortaleza and knows how to throw this party like no one else.
Sophistication and Groove: Seu Jorge adds that class and groove that only he has (Karl is a huge fan! 😉). To complete the vibe, Nayra Costa brings soul and pop with a powerful voice.
Rock Classics: We will have the legendary national rock of Os Paralamas do Sucesso. Good music, timeless, and full of energy.
For the Youth: The Trap phenomenon, Matuê, is confirmed. He brings a modern energy and connects the party with the new generation.
Pure Energy: Claudia Leitte will bring Axé Music to raise the dust, and Os Transacionais guarantee that retro carnival vibe we love.
Voices of Ceará: The night also shines with Taty Girl (classic forró to cry and dance to) and the elegance of Marcos Lessa.

A Silent and Modern Visual Spectacle
One thing we at Refúgio appreciate very much: Fortaleza has adopted silent fireworks and a spectacular drone show. In other words, we have the full visual beauty of the lights in the sky, but without that deafening noise. It is more respectful towards animals, children, and people with sensitive hearing. It is a civilised party and beautiful to watch! Our cat, Chiqui, will certainly appreciate it!
Logistics: Why our Location is Everything
Here is some advice from someone who lives the daily life of the city: on New Year’s Eve, the traffic stops! That is a fact! The main avenues, such as Avenida Historiador Raimundo Girão and Abolição, are blocked to create a safety belt for pedestrians.
As a result, trying to get an Uber or taxi close to midnight is an almost impossible and very expensive mission.
The advantage of the Refúgios: We have a strategic location.
You leave the Refúgio Hostel or the Refúgio Pousada Fortaleza, walk calmly for about 15-20 minutes, and you are already at the party. Simple as that!
When you are tired, you walk back safely, have a shower, and sleep in your comfortable bed. No traffic stress, no absurd dynamic fares. In short: simply the best logistics possible.

What is Your New Year’s Style?
We have two options for two types of travellers, yet both with the same German precision and Brazilian soul:
Refúgio Hostel Fortaleza: If you want to start the party before even leaving the house, meet people from all over the world, do the “warm-up” on our balcony, and go as a group to the Aterro—then the Hostel is your place. It is pure vibe, cultural exchange, and lots of joy.
Refúgio Pousada Fortaleza: If you want to enjoy the party but value a quiet night’s sleep, a private bathroom, and a restorative breakfast the next day with more privacy, the Pousada (Inn/Guesthouse) is your oasis.
Final Tips for New Year’s Eve 2026
Stay Hydrated: Fortaleza is hot, even at night. Drink water between the beers! 😉
Safety: Take only the essentials. Our area is safe. The party itself is safe, with lots of police, nevertheless, one should always be doubly attentive in crowds.
Arrive Early: If you want to stand close to the stage to see Luan or Safadão, go early. The beach fills up quickly.
Fortaleza is ready to celebrate its 300 years in style. And we at the Refúgios are ready to welcome you. This will undoubtedly be one of the biggest parties Brazil has ever seen.
