Fortaleza, our beloved capital, is about to receive an incredible gift. In fact, two of its most cherished landmarks, the Beira-Mar piers, are about to undergo a major transformation. This is a breath of modernity echoing the sea breeze. The project is led by the Beira-Mar Pier Consortium. This group is formed by the giant Beach Park and the Social Clube. As a result, they promise to completely revitalise the Píer Náutico and the Píer Ideal. Both are just a stone’s throw from Refúgio Hostel Fortaleza and Refúgio Pousada Fortaleza, right in the heart of the city. Therefore, get ready to see the seafront as you’ve never seen it before! A true metamorphosis awaits us all. Without doubt, it is an invitation to rediscover these beloved spaces.
A Brief History: From Piers to Leisure Hubs
First of all, it is worth remembering that our piers have always been famous spots. They worked as urban refuges. In other words, they were perfect for a calm late afternoon. The concession brought Beach Park and Social Clube into the project. In addition, the Beach Park Group itself shows great vision. The company began with a simple beach hut in 1985. As a result, it proves how boldness can turn a dream into reality. This requalification is part of a wider improvement movement. Our city is in constant transformation.
Details That Will Surprise You
The project is truly ambitious. In fact, the investment exceeds R$ 20 million. This represents a significant bet on Beira-Mar, making it more accessible and entertaining.
Pier Náutico: A Fun Hub
It will be located close to the traditional Beira-Mar Handicraft Market (Feirinha da Beira-Mar), a place that already bursts with energy. There will be a themed carousel and the famous “Drop’n Twist” ride. Furthermore, the “Submerso Experience” promises an immersion into the history of our sea. A stage for live shows and a children’s area will also be included, creating a space for everyone.
Pier Ideal: A Feast for the Senses
This pier is in front of the Ideal Clube, at the end of Rui Barbosa Avenue. It is a more residential area and, therefore, an invitation to tranquillity. Here, the main focus will be gastronomy. Expect amazing restaurants and a relaxed “beach club” vibe. These options will make you feel like you are on a true sensory journey.
What the Two Piers Have in Common
Both will have sunshade coverings. Thus, they will be great to visit at any time of the day. There will also be bleachers, kiosks and shops. Importantly, fishing, a traditional activity, will be maintained.
Design Inspired by History
The architecture will refer to the Belle Époque style. The lines will recall the Mercado dos Pinhões, for example. Moreover, there will be a tribute to the Ceará artist Sérvulo Esmeraldo, with a replica of his work “La Femme Bateu“.
How Is the City Reacting?
Reactions are mostly very positive. The City Hall and those responsible for the project are celebrating the initiative. Consequently, there is great optimism. The project is seen as a boost for tourism. Expectations are that Beira-Mar will become “the most beautiful in the world”. One great piece of news is that the main access will remain free. In addition, the requalification is expected to create 600 direct jobs. This will be a big boost for the economy.
